Instructors
Instructing students in various programs to develop fundamental skills on their instrument. Teach the student basics about their instruments; Tuning, wrapping cables, names of the drums/parts of the guitar, and the basics on how to run an amp and pedal. Instructors can check the QR codes or Drive to find song casting and information. Instructors should work on graduation requirements with 101/201 students to help them prepare for graduation when they are ready. Performance songs should be introduced in lessons 2 weeks prior to playing the song at rehearsal and the student should be ready to play the song at a basic level. Instructors should use the Method App in their lessons and teach their students how to use the App, encouraging at home practice by sending songs, exercises and informational pages. Pike notes should be entered after every lesson; use the last 5 min of your lesson time to have the student work on something independently while you input notes. Instructors should be mindful of lesson start and end times for consistent scheduling.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
Consistency of instructor scheduling is crucial for effectively retaining students & building instructor hours. Frequent instructor schedule changes negatively affect our customer service. When we do not provide consistency, our student progress is hindered, parents feel we are less reliable and the overall quality of our programming declines.
While we appreciate that many of our staff are gigging musicians, we ask that all time off requests are kept to a minimum.
removed from the show Show Directors are expected to lead 90% of the rehearsals in any show season.
2 directors absolutely cannot take off on the same day
Day Off Requests
Vacation, personal absence, or any changes to our schedule require 2 weeks notice. The Time off Request form is on this homepage.
Sick Time Off
Please give us at least 24 hours notice, even if you are starting to feel unwell. This means by 2pm the day before so we can prepare for coverage or cancellations.
Please provide a doctor or hospital note if available.

Rookies Instructor
Instructing up to 6 students ages 6-7 and allowing them to play every instrument to find what they enjoy most and prepare them for the Rock 101 program and private lesson with their chosen instrument when they are ready to graduate. Lesson planning should be done in advance to draft themes, concepts, and related activities documented on the Rookies agenda sheet to provide families at the end of the group lesson. Communication with parents and the Music Director are important to ensure students are being appropriately challenged, the program is running efficiently, and any barriers can be removed as soon as possible. If/when the student needs more than this, we’ll put the student into Rookies Plus which will give them a 30 minute private lesson with Alexis on a different day or time.
101/201 Director
Directing up to 18 students in a co-ran group, or 10 students in a solo run group who are all beginner players. Keeping the students engaged is a must and this role requires energy and patience to get the kids to play through the given 201 songs and the occasional group activity. The 101/201 Director should communicate with Instructors to give feedback on how the students are doing and give points of improvement. Rehearsal room etiquette should be taught to the students and it is encouraged to have the students turn on and off all equipment in the room, including wrapping cables and cleaning up.
Behaviors in the group (depending on the severity) should follow the 3 strike rule, including 2 verbal warnings and next having the student sit in the front, away from rehearsal while we notify their parents. Please communicate any behaviors to the Music Director.
Show Director
Directing up to 18 experienced students in a co-ran, themed show group in preparation to get them show-ready by the end of the season. The Show Director is responsible for song casting and show theme/song selection alongside the Music Director to ensure students are appropriately challenged and Instructors are notified in a timely manner to allow 2 weeks of lesson practice prior to playing songs at rehearsal. Block casting should always be utilized if possible for productive rehearsals. The Show Director should communicate with Instructors weekly to give feedback on student progress and give points of improvement in order for the students to work on targeted parts in their lessons. Any variations of songs, including endings, simplified or changed parts should be noted to all Instructors and the Music Director to ensure smooth transitions between lessons and rehearsals. Rehearsal room etiquette should be taught to the students and the students must turn on and off all equipment in the room, including wrapping cables and cleaning up after themselves.
Behaviors in the group (depending on the severity) should follow the 3 strike rule, including 2 verbal warnings and next having the student sit in the front, away from rehearsal while we notify their parents. Please communicate any behaviors to the Music Director.
Studio Coordinator
The Studio Coordinator is the face of the business and should take a proactive approach to introduce themselves to walk-ins, students and trial families. Guide trials through the process from start to finish - School Tour, Program Explanation, Keep it Conversational, Selling Points of Program (lesson, rehearsal, group socialization, performance opportunities, Method App, student independence), and sealing the deal when the student comes back from their trial, offering promos.
Pike duties include: program and merch sales, student and parent notes confirming action taken or conversations had, scheduling lessons/makeups, finding new lesson times, schedule clean up to avoid schedule gaps in advance.
Notify the Music Director of any group or Instructor changes of existing students, as all impacted parties will need to know and other trackers will need to be updated.
Checking and following up on Leads in Email/Zendesk to ensure they have all been responded to.
Cleaning and disinfecting duties should be completed at the end of each day at the time of closure to maintain school cleanliness.
